“Dyke Dollar”
I am in Laura Terruso’s award winning short film “Dyke Dollar”, which was an Indiewire Outfest pick.
You can rent “Dyke Dollar” from Buskfilms.
REVIEWS:
October 15-17 2010 Savannah Gay & Lesbian Film Society Deb Riney’s pick for the festival is Dyke Dollar! “That’s a really well–written, well–scripted film,” she explains. “It’s based on the fact that in the 1990s gay activists began stamping their dollars to prove that they contributed to the American economy. Laura Terruso, who directed, based the story on one of those dollars. And it’s a riot. It’s hugely funny and right on.”
2010 – The Seattle Lesbian, “Dyke Dollar is like School House Rock, lesbian-style! When a teenage boy notices the words ‘Dyke Dollar’ stamped on his bill, Evelyn the dyke dollar comes to life to explain how gay and lesbian spending positively affects our economy. A could-be dry subject is presented in a way that had the audience, predominately gay men at this showing, roaring with laughter. Actress Lisa Haas is delightful and has helped me get a little bit closer to overcoming my fear of mascots. *This was my favorite Outrageous short!”

I really loved Dyke Dollar and hope to be able to see Codependent Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same very soon. Do you know if it will be available on DVD?
Hi there. So glad you loved DD. Codependent is currently playing in film festivals for 2011 (and probably some in 2012.) What city/country do you live in? I can let you know if it will be in your neighborhood! (It will eventually be on dvd – but not for at least two years…) -lisa
I live in Germany/ Bavaria … not the best place for international film festival. But if it is screening anywhere near I’ll definetly go.
It’s not unlikely that it will play at a festival in your region during 2011 or 2012! I will keep you posted when it starts playing at festivals in Europe. (Did you see Dyke Dollar in Munich, by chance?)
I only saw it on DVD. It’s part of the L-Shorts and really one of the few highlights on the DVD.
Hallo! FYI “Codependent Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same” is playing in Kolin at http://www.frauenfilmfestival.eu/index.php?id=920&L=1 (I think that is nearly 500 kilometers from Bravaia…but wanted to let you know just the same!)
